PK - 2nd Grade

Students at this level are taught to value their ideas more than their techniques.

Creativity is the most important thing in our training. We believe that at this level, it is not efficient to teach drawing techniques alone. With this idea in mind, we apply class projects with consideration to the imagination and interests of our students. Projects may include topics like their favorite cartoon characters. Gradually, we then teach students to apply basic drawing skills to their work, such as: line weight, basic figure construction, color theory, etc. This level ultimately provides a solid foundation for their next level of training.

Teachers at this level are required to have an understanding of youth psychology. Youth psychology is important when trying to understand each individual. It also helps teachers to adjust their teaching method accordingly. We cannot and will not risk this golden time of intellectual development.

3rd - 5th Grade

Students at this level are taught to avoid mechanical drawing. Teachers continue to protect their creativity.

Based on creativity enlightenment level, this is the period where students continue to strengthen their drawing techniques. Students at this level are instructed and encouraged to avoid mechanical drawing.

Drawing training and techniques include: Sketch, Still Life, Watercolor and Pastel.

This is also the period where we urge kids to do more than just a children’s painting. Teachers have to be professional in both art and teaching. This is the level where teachers apply art perception, drawing techniques and innovative thinking into class lectures. It is a critical step for students to move up to the next level.

6th Grade and up

Students at this level are not allowed to have teacher-made, forged, “high quality” artworks.

This level is more demanding, with professional training that goes beyond the creativity enhancement level. Utilizing the students’ own innovative thoughts, they then perfect their ideas and techniques simultaneously. This is also the time for students to prepare their portfolio for future applications.

Professional drawing techniques include: Advanced Sketch and Watercolor, Oil Painting and Basic Creative Design.

This level of training requires our teachers to be extra patient. Teachers need to guide our students to draw each individual work with their own distinctive characteristics. Paintings under such guidance are professional and well-planned. We don’t allow teacher-forged “high quality” artworks.

Portfolio

This part of learning is critical because it has the potential to deeply influence the students’ lives. Teachers’ individual artistic attainments play an important role in mentoring the students.

Classes at this step focus on students who are aiming towards top universities. We create the best portfolio for students to get admission into their ideal school. After advanced class training, each student is expected to present a high level portfolio. Through the step of “Create the Best”, students are able and encouraged to submit extraordinary artworks. An outstanding portfolio impresses any admission committee more than an essay. This is the most competitive strength U.S. Fine Art can provide to you.
